Hello Winter and Spring 2010 Grads!
Just a reminder that if you plan on attending your graduation ceremony on June 18, 2010 at the Pantages Theatre, that you must register by this Friday, May 14th. This is mainly so we can order your cap and gown/culinary jacket without you having to incur late fees and shipping charges on your order.

Commencement Schedule
We are pleased to announce that Ai Minnesota’s graduation is held at the historic Pantages Theatre, which is located at 710 Hennepin Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55403. The 2010 Winter-Spring Commencement ceremony will take place on Friday, June 18, 2010 at 2:30pm.
1:00pm – Mandatory rehearsal for all graduates walking in the ceremony. You MUST attend. Remember to pick up your cap and gown/culinary jacket before rehearsal.
2:00pm – Guests will be seated. If you have a guest that needs special accommodations, the Pantages staff can help seat them prior to the doors opening at 2:00pm.
2:30pm – Graduation Ceremony.
For visiting friends and family, more information on the theatre and parking can be found at http://www.hennepintheatretrust.org/parking/. At this time there is no limit to the number of guests you can invite as the Theater comfortably seats 1100.
Cap and Gown Rentals / Culinary Jackets
If you are planning on walking at graduation, you must order a cap and gown or culinary jacket ahead of time. Cap and gown rentals cost $19.95 and include a tassel that is yours to keep. For Culinary students, jackets are included in your program fee.
For culinary jacket orders you probably will or have already filled out a form in one of your classes. If not, when registering for graduation please fill out the culinary jacket section on the form by May 7, 2010. For cap and gown orders, please ensure you fill out your online graduation form and the cap and gown section by May 14, 2010.
Payment for cap and gowns is made when you pick-up your order. Orders can be picked up in the Supply Store (room 001) the week of graduation. You may want to take the gown out of the packaging prior to graduation to get some of the wrinkles out. You will need to return the gown to the Supply Store immediately following commencement.
Photos
Herff Jones Photography will be taking two sets of photos during graduation for every student. One is as you cross the stage and receive your diploma, and the other is a head shot with your diploma cover right after you exit the stage.
Information on how to purchase these photos online (http://www.hjgrads.com/artinstitute/) will either be mailed or e-mailed to your information on file with the Registrar’s Office. To change your information please visit the Registrar’s Office in room 203. Please wait 2-3 weeks to receive this information.
Flower and Beverage Sale
The National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) will be selling flowers at the Pantages Theatre for you or your guests to purchase, with all proceeds benefiting a local charity. Also for your convenience, the Pantages Theatre will be selling bottled beverages before and during the ceremony.
Student Speaker
Each quarter either one or two students are chosen to speak at graduation on behalf of their graduating classes. Student speakers must be in good academic, financial and disciplinary standing. If nominated, students will be asked to present before the graduation committee a rough draft of the speech they would present at graduation. This presentation will take place three-four weeks prior to the ceremony. To nominate yourself or someone else please do so on the online graduation form.
Portfolio Show
Each quarter, graduates showcase their portfolios and final projects so that industry professionals, potential employers, family members, friends, and Ai Minnesota staff can review their work. The portfolio show is from 9:00am-12:00pm the day of graduation and will be located at Solera Restaurant at 900 Hennepin Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55403.
Invitations
All graduates will be e-mailed to their e-mail on file with the Registrar’s Office a pdf of the official invitation that can be e-mailed to family and friends, or printed at the graduates own expense. This invitation will be e-mailed closer to the date of graduation.
Contact Information/Receiving Your Diploma
Remember to update your contact information (address, e-mail, etc.) with the Registrar’s Office, in room 203 of the La Salle building, before you graduate. Your diploma will be mailed 6-8 weeks after graduation to this address, as well as any post-graduate information that may need to be mailed/e-mailed to you regarding graduation photos, etc.
