OBTAIN ANIMATION `KNOW HOW' FROM OSCAR, EMMY and CLIO AWARD WINNER, WILL VINTON
Academy Award-winning animation producer/director and Art Institute of Portland Artist-in-Residence, Will Vinton, will present at The Art Institutes Booth (Booth # 1215) on Wednesday, August 8, 2007, at 9:30 a.m. Vinton has been a leading visionary in the animation field for many years. He coined the phrase Claymation, and went on to introduce several new brands of animation to audiences across the globe by launching the careers of the California Raisins, as seen on tv, and many more.
EMMY AWARD-WINNING LIZ HOLZMAN OFFERING LIFE DRAWING TECHNIQUES
Novice and intermediate computer users alike will learn how to use the computer as a tool in creating dynamic gesture drawings under the tutelage of three-time Emmy winner and Art Institute of Portland instructor Liz Holzman. Using the Wacom tablet and Photoshop, you'll learn how to concentrate on drawing quick poses of the model, with emphasis on volumes and gesture.
FUN WITH PICTURES – ENHANCING YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY
Stop by The Art Institutes Digital Photography Class at SIGGRAPH booth #1215 and you'll learn to use Photoshop CS2 and CS3 tools to enhance a photograph and really capture the moment. You will gain an understanding of the RAW module as well as simple selection techniques and creative uses of Photoshop's filters to achieve desired effects.
GET CREATIVE USING DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY
Grab a seat at The Art Institutes Life Drawing Class at SIGGRAPH booth #1215 and explore the differences between using digital technology and traditional tools in the process of life drawing. A variety of strategies will be studied to help you understand the benefits of using new media. Get familiar with dynamic gesture drawing and the creation of compositions involving multiple figures in deep space.
BRINGING THE ART OF COMPOSITION TO C.G. STANDARDS
Join animator Johan Klingler, instructor at The Art Institute of Dallas, as he demonstrates how to build stronger composition in both reality and fantasy with Maya. Klingler has worked on layout and character animation for The Lion King, Aladdin, Beauty & the Beast, Tarzan, Curious George, Scooby Doo 2, and the recent Ant Bully, among many others. He has also animated computer games and television programs for Walt Disney Studios and Warner Brothers.
PLAY ALL DAY – SHANKE – FREE GIVEAWAY
This year, visitors will also have the opportunity to receive a complementary video game, "SHANKE," The Art Institutes Video Game, a modern day jousting game produced by students from The Art Institute of Phoenix. The Video Game will be distributed at The Art Institutes booth (#1215) on Tuesday and Wednesday at 10:45 am, 12:45 pm, and 2:45 pm, and on Thursday at 12:45 pm, 1:45 pm, and 2:45 pm.
